KSS In Depth: Signing Up and Posting Wishlists

How to Sign Up for Karaoke Secret Santa:

We've settled on Elfster to administrate the gift exchange part of Karaoke Secret Santa, that is the secret santa draw where participants are secretly matched up with others.

Basically, there are two ways to sign-up/be invited:

1. Receive an email invitation from myself or other KSS participants and responding to it.
2. Click the "Sign-Up" Link, located in the top menu, right above.

After that, you will have to sign up for the Elfster site where you can RSVP and join the Karaoke Secret group and specific gift exchange (e.g., 2013's gift exchanged was named "KSS Five: 2013 Karaoke Secret Santa"). You can do this in two ways:

1. Join Elfster. Create an Elfster account for yourself by using their easy-to-follow steps.
2. Clicking the fLogin button to sign in via Facebook.

How to Post Your Wishlist on Elfster.com:

With Elfster, posting on your wishlist may seem a bit tricky, but once you get a hang of some of the guidelines, you can be creative with how you post it.

 

On Elfster, you have to "Wish" your songs individually. To help organise your Wishlists, and help your secret santas figure out which songs you want for this year, we recommend creating a new wishlist for each KSS:

How to Create a Wishlist:

1. Log-in. If you haven't signed up for Elfster.com, do so.
2. Sign-up for the Karaoke Secret Santa gift exchange (see above). Doing this will make sure you're actually participating and will be involved in the draw after the sign-up deadline.
3. Look at the top, right-hand corner. You should see, "Hi, [first name]" and the link, "Settings" after. Click on Settings.
4. Click on Wishlist Settings.
5. Create a New Wishlist, or re-name current wishlist for KSS. You can then click on making it visible to either the "Karaoke Secret" group or "Anyone". Obviously, at least make it accessible to the group.

Alternatively, you can click on "Wishlist", click on the pull-down menu next to your default wishlist, and click "Manage Wishlists".

Posting on your Wishlist:

1. Once logged in, you'll be directed to your home page. There, you'll find an "Add to Wishlist" link on top. Click on "Add to Wishlist" in the top menu at Elfster.com.
2. You will be led to a page where you can "Add to Wishlist". You have three options: "Search", "Link", and "Text":
1. "Search": Here you can search products and add to a traditional wishlist. This can work for Karaoke Secret Santa if you can find a product that matches one of the KSS questions. For example, if your favourite Broadway show is "Company", then you can search for "Company musical" and link to a copy of a recent DVD or its original Broadway Cast Album. The secret santa won't buy you the DVD or CD, but take it as a big hint to maybe choose a song from that musical.
2. "Link": You can also share a link. I've found that it's a great opportunity to share YouTube links to your favourite or wild card songs.
3. "Text": Since there are KSS questions you can answer, as opposed to searching for particular items, simply answer a KSS question (e.g. "Favorite Artist: John Mayer") and Add to your Wishlist that way.
3. Once submitted, repeat the process for the rest of the questions .
